Snoqualmie Casino celebrates landmark moment in hotel expansion
The development project is set to create 500 additional jobs in the outer Seattle area.
Washington state-based Snoqualmie Casino has announced a significant moment in the casino’s history, which will see the highest beam placed on the hotel tower on June 14 as part of a recent, large-scale expansion project.
Owned and operated by the Snoqualmie Tribe, this latest expansion project sees the integration of a hotel, convention center, restaurant and spa to the casino – creating 500 new jobs in the area. Located half an hour from the downtown Seattle area, the Snoqualmie casino currently holds 1,700 slot machines and 55 table games. However, the Tribe will be hoping that this project helps to diversify its offerings for locals and tourists in the area.
The project will see an additional 11,000 square feet of extended gaming space, alongside the previously mentioned additions. Project architects, Bergman Walls & Associates stated that they have incorporated the Tribe’s culture and history into the architectural features of the hotel and casino.
This latest update comes nearly two years after the project was initially announced. According to Snoqualmie Councilmember, James Mayhew, who passed comment at the time, it also took two years to negotiate the development prior to this. Mayhew stated, “There were a lot of trust issues, both with the Tribe trusting the city and with the city trusting the Tribe.”
A key area of negotiations necessary for construction to begin was the sewer service required as part of the project. The Tribe agreed to pay the city $6.6m to cover the cost.
Project Manager, Scott Hebert, also commented at the time, saying, “We could not be more excited to bring this caliber of resort experience to Snoqualmie.”
