Choctaw Landing celebrates grand opening

The resort has created more than 400 jobs in southeast Oklahoma.
The Choctaw Nation has held a grand opening for its new resort and casino, Choctaw Landing.
The resort includes amenities such as 100 guest rooms with 15 suites, three conference rooms, meeting space, a hotel restaurant, dining/bar options, a fitness center, a pool area and a casino with 600 slot machines and eight table games including roulette and blackjack.
Celebrating the grand opening, Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Chief Gary Batton presided over a ribbon cutting with a celebration that included around 300 attendees.
During the celebrations there were Choctaw dancers and singers, while attendees were able to participate in traditional Choctaw activities such as pottery and flintknapping.
On top of this, Choctaw Landing has partnered with more than 20 Choctaw artists to create original artwork for the resort, with an Art Hike developed to celebrate the artists.
The $238m resort created more than 400 jobs in southeast Oklahoma and it is estimated that there will be a $95m economic impact on the region.
Chief Gary Batton said, “Any time you can bring our culture and our history together, along with economic development for our Tribal members and the citizens of this area, it’s a great day.
“We broke ground down here two years ago, and to see our grand opening today and all the things we’re going to be able to bring to McCurtain County, it’s exciting.
“I love that we’re seeing our culture and history displayed here and that it’s an economic boost to this area. Hopefully people will learn about Choctaw Nation here more than ever before.”
Senior Executive Officer Heidi Grant added, “From the planning stages years ago, we knew that we wanted to bring something to this community that brought culture first and foremost.
“Culture was prevalent in the design and development stages. We were very considerate about the nature and community aspects and how we could fit and complement this area.”
Last month, Kambi signed a landmark sportsbook agreement with the Choctaw Nation to provide its sports betting technology and services to the Tribe’s gaming entities.
