New Hampshire posts $72.6m in March sports wagering handle

The New Hampshire Lottery has published its sports betting results for the month of March. Sports betting statewide generated $72.6m in handle, up by more than $10m when compared to results from February.

New Hampshire saw nearly $5.6m in revenue for March. Sports betting contributed almost $2.4m in taxes to the state.

New Hampshire’s sports betting handle for the fiscal year has nearly reached the $585.9m mark since the market opened last summer. The state opened its sports betting market last July.

Though the state’s mobile sports betting handle surpassed $65m for the month of March, November still holds the record for the largest and to date. Mobile sports betting posted its highest handle since July during November, with the total reaching nearly $67.9m.

October previously held the title for largest mobile sports betting handle this year. However, October is still on top as the largest gross gaming revenue (GGR) earner.

During March, the state’s GGR reached $4.98m. New Hampshire collected almost $2.2m in taxes from mobile sports betting during March.

So far this year, mobile sports wagering has yielded a total handle of $511.7m.

Retail sports wagering locations posted a March handle of $7.6m and brought in more than $600,000 in gross gaming revenue.

During the month, retail sports betting contributed more than $270,000 in state taxes.

Traditional casinos are currently illegal in New Hampshire. However, the state allows its venues to offer players table-based and machine-based games that are connected to local charities.

The current law on the books allows charities statewide to partner with charitable gaming operators, as long as they do not exceed 10 gaming dates per year.
