Penn National Gaming has named marketing veteran Marla Kaplowitz to its Board of Directors, a move that expands the Board size to eight members.

Kaplowitz is President and Chief Executive Officer of the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4As), a role she has held since 2017. Kaplowitz is credited for modernizing the agency and driving commerce.

David Handler, Chairman of Penn National Gaming, said, “Marla is an innovator and a proven leader in marketing and digital transformation, which will serve us well as Penn National continues its evolution into the nation’s leading omnichannel provider of retail and interactive gaming, sports betting and entertainment. We’re delighted to have her unique talents on the Board.”

Before joining 4As, Kaplowitz served as CEO of MEC Global’s North America division between 2011-2017. She also spent 12 years at MediaVest, where she worked with brands including Denny’s and Heineken.

Kaplowitz is the third woman to join Penn National’s Board of Directors, joining Barbara Shattuck Kohn and Jane Scaccetti.

The Wyomissing, PA based company has enjoyed a breakout year highlighted by a partnership with Barstool Sports. The subsequent Barstool Sportsbook pushed Penn National’s third quarter EBITDAR to $453m, topping Wall Street and internal estimates.

As of Tuesday evening, the company was trading at $73.27, slightly down from a record $74.60 set earlier in the day.
