Global lottery provider Allwyn has announced a three-year partnership with Future Frames, a scholarship program that works with the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Future Frames scholarships award new European directors the opportunity to work in California for a month.
Allwyn will sponsor one new director a year, out of the 10 selected to showcase their work at the Karlovy Vary IFF. The promising director will receive a film industry mentorship and development program in Los Angeles through Future Frames.
The Karlovy Vary IFF, established in 1946, is one of the oldest European film festivals. Future Frames has been working with its directors since 2015. As part of Allwyn’s partnership, the lottery provider will add an awards ceremony to the festival, celebrating the work of all ten directors and their films.
Pavel Turek, Allwyn’s Chief Officer of Global Brand, Corporate Communication, and CSR, commented, “Through this partnership, Allwyn is continuing to grow its community of winners around the globe.
"We’re passionate about changing lives for the better and this extends beyond those who buy a lottery ticket. It means supporting those who strive to achieve greatness in society, including in the arts.”
Last month, Allwyn also acquired Camelot Lottery Solutions.
Kryštof Mucha, Executive Director of the Karlovy Vary IFF, said, “Thanks to our new partner, Allwyn, we can provide European directors with a vital opportunity to kick-start their careers and further their creative development.”
Turek added, “Initiatives like Future Frames ensure that opportunity is spread across generations. As we build the lotteries of the future, we are equally committed to ensure future generations also benefit from the good we provide.”
The festival takes place from June 30th to July 8th 2023.
