ZenSports, a mobile peer-to-peer sports betting platform, has acquired an option to purchase a Nevada casino with the intention of licensing its app for the US marketplace.

ZenSports will acquire Big Wheel Casino in Lovelock, Nevada as part of a partnership with Strategic Gaming Management. The deal also gives ZenSports the option to operate the sports book at Baldini’s Sports Casino in Reno, Nevada.

SGM will continue to run day-to-day operations of Big Wheel Casino.

Through ownership of a casino and operation of a sports book, ZenSports will gain the necessary physical presence to run a mobile sports betting app according to Nevada Gaming Control Board rules.

SGM will give ZenSports up to three and-a-half years to purchase Big Wheel Casino.

ZenSports CEO Mark Thomas tells Gaming America exclusively, “For us to be able to strike that deal where we have that option to purchase anytime over the next three and-a-half years is a big deal. What that means is that we’ve taken that big first step in getting licensed and operating in Nevada.”

ZenSports now must go through the formal license application process with the NGCB.

Thomas said the company is looking to add brick-and-mortar presence in southern Nevada.

“We are definitely looking to lease a spot in Vegas,” said Thomas. “That will be something we look to do over the next six to nine months and strike an agreement for that.”
