The company has gained two regulatory licenses in the province.

Betsson has been granted both a supplier and operator license within the Canadian province of Ontario. This is the next step in the company’s strategic marketing plan for the province.

Along with  regulatory approvals, the group has launched Betsafe in Ontario. Players in the province will have access to both the brand’s online casino and sports betting products.

The company said that Betsafe’s products will run on Strive Gaming’s platform and will be accessible to Ontario’s players through the Betsafe mobile app. The platform has been localized to more effectively engage the North American audience, according to the company.

Betsson President and CEO Pontus Lindwall noted the potential opportunity for company growth throughout North America.

Lindwall commented: “We are pleased to obtain the necessary licenses to operate with both a B2C and B2B offering in the locally regulated online gaming market in Ontario.

“We are convinced that there are great opportunities for Betsson in Ontario in both the B2C and B2B channels as we bring a highly competitive offering to the market.”

The Ontario commercial market went live on April 4, 2022 and is the first Canadian province to offer iGaming to its residents. Up to now, local lotteries have traditionally dominated Canada’s gambling sector.

The province is projected to become one of North America’s largest iGaming markets.

Betsson has grown significantly throughout Europe and said part of its expansion strategy is attributed to acquisitions. The company maintains an ongoing commitment to managing online gaming companies and adapting its platforms to localized audiences.
