Caesars Entertainment has opened its latest Louisiana location, Horseshoe Lake Charles. The land-based casino is comprised of 60,000 square feet and offers its guests 1,000 slot machines and table games.
The Isle of Capri Lake Charles riverboat casino was the city’s known attraction for gambling aficionados until 2020’s Hurricane Laura hit the area. The riverboat casino was destroyed during the storm.
Horseshoe Lake Charles is first casino to break land in the Lake Charles area and the second casino Caesars has established in Louisiana.
The company commented about Hurricane Laura’s impact on the local job market and the opportunities for potential employment Horseshoe Lake Charles can bring to the area.
Caesars said in a statement: “Though the closure of Isle of Capri resulted in the loss of hundreds of jobs, Horseshoe Lake Charles has created 600 new jobs for the community, and half of the former employees from Isle of Capri have come back to work at the new property.”
Caesars Sportsbook recently teamed up with New York University's School of Professional Studies’ graduate students to implement a new graduate school course called NYU x Caesars Sportsbook Real World. The class is devoted to educating students about responsible gaming.
As part of the course study, students joined members of Caesars Entertainment’s creative team to watch New York Rangers play against the Philadelphia Flyers at Madison Square Garden.
Part of the curriculum has included Caesars’ marketing department members and those from the corporate responsible gaming team addressing students on the topics of business strategy, company goals and what responsible gaming looks like in New York State.
Students also construct their own responsible gaming marketing plan and present it to team members of Caesars Sportsbook to receive course credit.
