Howard will be the face behind the launch of World Cup-related betting offers.

BetMGM has signed iconic US retiree Tim Howard as a celebrity brand ambassador, where he will launch free-to-play games and promotions among other duties. This move comes ahead of the 2022 World Cup and an increasing fever for soccer betting among US bettors.

BetMGM is offering a slew of free-to-play games and daily challenges that will run through the tournament. There will be a free-to-play (F2P) $250,000 Bracket, where players can compete for a $250,000 grand prize by predicting a perfect bracket. If no one predicts a perfect bracket, the user with the closest guess will be awarded $50,000.

There will also be the Tim Howard Shootout Challenge, a daily F2P game that will give BetMGM players the chance to take on Howard directly in a betting ‘shootout.’ Participants are guaranteed a range of prizes, including $100 in free bets.

Additionally, there will be a New Customer Offer that gifts anyone who signs up during the World Cup a free bet worth up to $1,000. New users who bet $10 on their first game will be given $200 in free bets if a goal is scored in that match.

Howard was a mainstay on the US Men's National Team and won the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup, being voted the CONCACAF Goalkeeper of the Year in 2013, 2014 and 2015. He made a world record in the 2014 World Cup when he made 16 saves in a single game versus Belgium.

Additionally, Howard is already the US ambassador for Everton, a UK-based soccer team (the one in Liverpool that isn’t Liverpool FC). He was with Everton for a decade, from 2006-2016 where he gained status as a club legend.

BetMGM CRO Matt Prevost commented: “Tim Howard's performances on the pitch thrilled a generation of US soccer fans. With Tim's support, we will bring a similar level of excitement to our customers through various games and interactive opportunities."
