AGA: Half of US casinos reopened

Half of all US casinos have reopened from COVID-19 closures, according to the American Gaming Association’s COVID-19 Casino Tracker.
Of the country’s 989 commercial and tribal casino properties, 494 were open while 495 remained closed as of June 4.
Tribal casinos in Oklahoma accounted for a bulk of the openings. Nearly all of Louisiana’s casinos have reopened as well.
Out west, a majority of tribal casinos in Arizona and southern California are open, joined by dozens more commercial casinos in Nevada.
Other states have yet to allow any casinos reopen. All of New Mexico’s 29 casinos remain closed, while only a small handful of casinos east of the Mississippi River have opened their doors.
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy said earlier this week that he hopes to allow Atlantic City casinos to reopen by July 4.
New Jersey has been one of the hardest hit states by the coronavirus.
