Caesars Entertainment has partnered with the Eastern Band of Cherokees to announce the development of Caesars Virginia, an integrated casino resort. The $650m project will officially break ground in Danville this week with the aim of boosting the local economy and increasing tourism.
Caesars Virginia is envisioned as a full-service entertainment facility that will create thousands of construction and operational jobs; it is scheduled to open in late 2024. The new hotel will include a 500-room hotel, over 1,300 slots, 85 live table games, 24 electronic table games, a WSOP poker room and a Caesars sportsbook.
Additionally, the new casino resort will boast a 2,500-seat state-of-the-art live entertainment theater, a full-service spa, a pool, high-quality bars and restaurants, and 40,000 square feet of meeting and convention space.
Caesars will take over as the managers of this new venue, and have partnered with EBCI and a local minority investor for this joint venture. Caesars sportsbook app is already live throughout Virginia and the company has prior ties to the Eastern Band of Cherokees.
The tribe owns EBCI Holdings, which has operated Caesars Southern Indiana Casino since 2021. In that year, the two parties entered into a long-term agreement for the tribe’s continued use of the Caesars brand and Caesars Rewards loyalty program at the Indiana venue.
Caesars Entertainment President and COO Anthony Carano commented: “We are excited to build a world-class Caesars resort in Danville with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, a valued partner of Caesars Entertainment for more than 20 years.”
Virginia’s Cherokee tribal nation agrees with this sentiment. Its Principal Chief Richard Sneed commented: “This venture is a vital opportunity for our nation and our people. We are excited to be expanding our longstanding and successful partnership with Caesars Entertainment.
“We will develop a first-class resort that will be defined by luxury and service that Caesars' guests have known and come to expect."
