The Weapons Detection System provider will provide systems for more than 14 licensed casinos.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Bureau of Licensing has given Athena Security approval to sell weapons detection systems to casinos in Pennsylvania.

With its headquarters in Austin, TX, Athena Security is an Apple iPad temperature detection and weapons detection security company. The company was founded by former Revel Systems Co-founders Lisa Falzone and Chris Ciabarra.

The technology also boasts a concealed weapons detection solution which includes Athena's new Entryway Detection System. This will provide casinos in Pennsylvania with a system that uses multiple sensors to detect guns and mitigate risk.

Pennsylvania has over 14 land-based casinos and brought in over $4.8bn in 2021. By July of 2022, the state hosts 18 internet casinos and 13 online sportsbooks as well.

Athena Security just launched its entry solution that scans people for weapons and temperature while identifying persons of interest. This also ends the need for anyone to stop and sort through a patron's belongings.

Athena Security CEO and Co-Founder Michael Green said: "Getting approval from the Pennsylvania gaming commission to provide our weapons detection system to casinos is a big step for the local communities, to feel safer while enjoying these local gaming locations."

Pennsylvania recently launched a live dealer studio courtesy of FanDuel Group, in partnership with Evolution. The online casino will offer blackjack and roulette tables exclusively to FanDuel Players.

The Gaming Control Board has also released the fiscal year revenue for 2021-22. This marked the first time overall revenue for games regulated by the Gaming Control Board topped $5bn during a fiscal year.

The Board added that the revenue increase from the previous high fiscal year can be attributed to a record high in revenue for table games; with continued growth in the sports wagering, iGaming and video gaming terminal markets.
