World Series of Poker (WSOP) Celebrity Master of Ceremonies Vince Vaughn arrived at the 53rd annual event. He made an impressive entrance: adorned in royal attire and carried into Bally’s event center, flanked by an entourage who were costumed as Roman imperial guards.
Vaughn unveiled the newly designed main event bracelet during this grand procession before making an opening speech. Following this, Vaughn made WSOP’s trademark ‘Shuffle Up and Deal’ announcement, which kicked off the last of the prestigious main event’s $10,000 no-limit hold’em flights.
The newly-designed main event bracelet is custom created from 500 grams of 10 karat white and yellow gold. The bracelet is embossed with 2,767 various precious stones including rubies, and black and white diamonds.
In a unique new feature for the 2022 WSOP, a removable golden poker chip sits in the center of the bracelet. This can be used as a cardholder.
Vaughn was delighted to be invited to partake in this role. He commented: “As Master of Ceremonies for the WSOP, I couldn't be more excited to play a role on the Las Vegas Strip by kicking off the most prestigious poker tournament in the world. This is the main event and a world champion needs an incredible trophy, not just some lousy ring."
Following his speech, the Hollywood star made his way to the tables in both Bally’s and Paris, mingling with some of poker’s biggest stars, including Phil Ivey, Chris Moneymaker and Johnny Chan.
This week of the WSOP will include a number of exciting events, including a $1,111 ‘One More for the Drop’ no-limit hold’em game, as well as the $1,000 online no-limit hold’em bracelet championship.
Registration for the main event is open until 3:40PM (PST) on July 8. However, the action doesn't end there, with more than 25 WSOP bracelet events still left to play and qualify for, including the ‘Tournament of Champions’ and more, through to July 20.
The WSOP is the largest, most prestigious and most lucrative poker event in the world, having awarded more than $3.5 billion in prize money in its history. The winner’s gold bracelet is globally recognized as the sport's top prize.
