Grammy and Emmy Award-winning comedian Chris Rock has been inducted into the Mohegan Sun Walk of Fame. The actor, writer and director is the 37th member to be received into the Walk of Fame fold.
Rock’s induction follows a recent confrontation with actor Will Smith during the 94th annual Academy Awards in March.
Mohegan Sun’s President of Sports and Entertainment Worldwide Tom Cantone commented: “In a world that needs more laughter, how timely is it to induct Chris Rock, who is now forever enshrined into the Mohegan Sun Entertainment family.”
Rock recently performed his fourth sold-out show at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, as part of his Ego Death World Tour.
Cantone presented Rock with the award during a private ceremony backstage prior to the show.
Rock is no stranger to the Mohegan Sun Arena. He has been performing there since 2008 and has entertained a sold-out venue each time he has been there.
In addition to winning four Emmy Awards and three Grammy Award, Rock is known as a New York Times Best-Selling Author. Rock was also nominated at the 2016 Emmy Awards for “Outstanding Director for a Variety Special” for Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo and “Outstanding Special Class Program” at the 88th annual Academy Awards.
The Walk recognizes individuals and organizations that contributed to the Mohegan Sun’s success as an entertainment venue.
The rock band Shinedown was also recently inducted into the Mohegan Sun Walk of Fame. Its members Brent Smith, Zach Myers, Eric Bass, and Barry Kerch were present at the ceremony on Saturday to accept the star before they performed a sold-out concert earlier this spring.
Other notable inductees include Bon Jovi, Kevin Hart, KISS, Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban.
