Those in select states who picked Joel Embiid will also have access to up to $25 in free bets.

PointsBet has announced it will issue early payouts to bettors in New Jersey, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Colorado and West Virginia who wagered on Nikola Jokic being named MVP of the 2021-22 NBA season. The sportsbook will issue the payout prior to an official announcement of the winner.

PointsBet USA Chief Marketing Officer Kyle Christensen said: "We are confident that Jokic will once again be named MVP, and rather than waiting for the official announcement from the league, we have decided to provide an early payout for PointsBet users that have placed their money on ‘The Joker.’

"At PointsBet, 'Live Your Bet Life' is a mantra we strive to showcase to our users, and this is how we bring that idea to fruition."

Players in New Jersey, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Colorado and West Virginia who bet on Philadelphia 76ers Center Joel Embiid will receive $25 in free bets from the sportsbook as a refund.

Christensen said in conclusion: "This was certainly a close race, and we know that there will be disappointed PointsBet users with Embiid the favorite for a good portion of the season.

“As a further extension of our customer service approach, we are refunding all wagers for anyone who took Embiid to win MVP with free bets up to $25. We loved watching the competition this year, and we are already looking forward to the 2022-23 season so much so that we have already posted future MVP Odds!"

PointsBet currently operates in Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, and West Virginia, with online casinos in Michigan, New Jersey and West Virginia.

Since the first of the year, the company has launched online sports betting in New York and Pennsylvania, and it was approved in Wyoming as an online sports wagering operator.
