ICE VOX: Resorts World Las Vegas adapts to changing industry
President Scott Sibella said the casino resort plans to be the frontrunner in cryptocurrency.
President of Resorts World Las Vegas Scott Sibella spoke via a conference call at ICE 2022 in London. Sibella discussed a variety of topics, including some of the long-term changes he has seen during his years in the casino industry and what the future holds.
He took a moment to comment about Resorts World Las Vegas changing over to a cashless wallet option and about some of the customer feedback.
“It’s going well,” he said. “It’s like anything else. When you create something new for the customers it takes a little time to adjust. That’s what we’re seeing in Las Vegas. It’s becoming more attractive and our customers like it.”
When asked about what role cryptocurrency would play in the gaming industry’s future, Sibella said the casino resort is interested in offering cryptocurrency options.
“We want to the front runner when it comes to crypto. It has a lot to do with the gaming control board, what we can and can’t do,” he said. “When I was getting my license, the chairman flat-out told me, ‘Look, we’re interested in doing more with it and we want you guys to be the beta and continue to make things happen.’”
Sibella added that he wasn’t sure how quickly the resort will have cryptocurrency options available.
“I don’t know how fast we’ll have it,” he said. “You see how fast crypto’s growing, but I do think it will get into the casino industry and we’re working fast to be the first one out there to do something with it.”
According to Sibella, entertainment has played a large role in the casino resort’s success.
“We knew from the beginning – especially being a new kid on the block on this side of the Strip – that we needed to have attractions to bring customers here,” he said. “Entertainment played a big role in that. But today we’ve got the best entertainment in Las Vegas than anywhere in the world. It’s very important to us. It’s bringing a lot of new customers to our building.”
