Connecticut’s Foxwoods Resort Casino has kicked off its 30th anniversary celebration with a myriad of expansion and renovation plans.
Foxwoods will be renovating the resort’s main entrance, adding a 75,000 square-foot Rainmaker Expo Center and a new High Stakes Bingo Hall that is expected to open this spring.
Guests will also benefit from the festivities. The casino will be giving away $30,000 a day to guests during its anniversary week, as well as donating another $30,000 monthly to local charities.
Jason Guyot, Foxwoods' President and CEO, said: "This year marks an incredible milestone for Foxwoods and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe. Not only is it our 30th anniversary, but it is our most significant year of evolution, innovation, and development for the property to date, and we're just getting started.”
Foxwoods Resort Casino first opened in February 1992 and has hosted several celebrity comedians and entertainers including Dave Chappelle, Bill Burr, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Pink, Bob Dylan, Carrie Underwood, Duran Duran and Frank Sinatra. The casino through the years has brought in more than $4bn in revenue for the state.
"Since opening our doors three decades ago, we have aimed to exceed our guests' expectations, and the future will see Foxwoods continue to trailblaze the integrated resort casino concept,” said Guyot.
The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation has also reached an agreement with Great Wolf Resorts to bring one of its indoor water park resorts to the area. Great Wolf Lodge at Mashantucket is expected to open in 2024.
"As we look ahead to the next chapter of Foxwoods, and as we continue to get better every year, I am proud to celebrate this milestone alongside The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, Foxwoods team members, our beloved guests, and the local community," Guyot said. "Today marks the beginning of a spectacular year-long celebration, and we look forward to welcoming guests of all ages to experience the wonder of it all."
