Betsson releases 2021 report, with net income of $990.8m
The operator will continue to expand in the North American and Latin American regions.
Betsson AB has reported its 2021 figures, ending with a record year in terms of revenue and results that rivaled its highest performing year in 2018.
Net income was SEK 1,054.4 ($990.8m), corresponding to SEK 7.90 ($7.32) per share.
Group revenue was SEK 6,672.3, an increase of 4%. Operating income (EBIT) was SEK 1,193.7, an increase of 6%, and the EBIT margin was 17.9%. Operating cash flow was SEK 1,456.3.
The company launched in several new markets, including operations in the City of Buenos Aires on January 6. Betsson had also launched in the province of Buenos Aires on January 17, after obtaining the license granted by the Provincial Institute of Lottery and Casinos.
CEO Pontus Lindwall said: “The launch in Argentina signifies yet another milestone in LatAm and further strengthens Betsson’s market presence in the region. The license for the Province of Buenos Aires, together with the license for the City of Buenos Aires, cement our position in the region.”
The company plans to cement and strengthen these developments in 2022.
“LatAm is a strategically important region where we are performing well and we have great ambitions for the future in Argentina,” Lindwall said.
Betsson also plans to shift its focus to North America this spring, with a launch planned in Colorado. Stateside investments will act as a showcase for the American market.
Parallel to US investments, preparations are taking place in the Canadian market and the goal is to launch the Betsafe sportsbook in the province of Ontario. Betsson is also planning to launch in Mexico during the year through a partnership with Big Bola Casinos.
