EML Payments on Thursday congratulated its partner AptPay for launching its first digital payments gaming client in Canada.
EML Payments is the provider of a global payment solutions platform. AptPay is a Canada-based fintech that says it enables real-time push payments to untapped industries.
According to a statement issued by EML Payments, the company is powering AptPay’s inaugural gaming and gambling General Purpose Reloadable (GPR) program in Canada with new client Woodbine Entertainment.
Woodbine is known as Canada’s largest horse racing operator.
EML said its in-person gambling and in-app gaming products will help casinos go cashless through AptPay’s integrated platform.
The two parties said the digital and physical payment solution is ideal for the instant disbursement of winnings. Physical cards are tap-ready for contactless payments throughout Canada.
“'Through this incredible partnership for AptPay with Woodbine’s HPIbet, consumers can finally receive their winnings in real-time from wagering,” Shams Syed, CEO at AptPay, said in a statement. “They can push money directly to accepting bank accounts or have a reloadable prepaid card issued instantly in the new year. This is the first program in Canada allowing winnings to be instantly disbursed to patrons.”
Ailie Kofoid, CEO Americas at EML Payments, added: “'EML is delighted to support AptPay’s gaming and gambling ambitions in Canada and future growth plans across the North American market.”
In October, AptPay announced its partnership with NRT Technology and Mastercard to enable casinos and online gaming sites to instantly disburse winnings into a bank account, prepaid card or mobile wallet for guests and players. This service, called smartSEND, was made available to all land-based and online casinos in North America via NRT Technology and was launched at the Global Gaming Expo. The solution uses Mastercard Send, a global push payments platform that enables funds to be sent securely and in near real-time into any payment card or account.
