Casinos see highest amount played since March 2019.

Delaware’s three casinos saw more than $22m played on table games in October, the highest activity since well before the pandemic hit.

According to figures released by the Delaware Lottery, Delaware Park, Dover Downs and Harrington had 82 gaming tables in action in October. The players won slightly more than $17.2m, leaving the casinos with a net win of more than $4.8m.

All of those amounts were up from September, when the same 82 tables saw $17.3m played, $12.8m won by players, and $4.5m net proceeds to the house.

The figures for October 2021 were better than the same month one year earlier, despite there being 99 tables in action in October 2020. In that month, players wagered $12.8m and won back $10.2m, leaving $2.5m in net proceeds.

Making a comparison to numbers from before Covid shut down casinos is difficult as Delaware has not reopened poker tables since March 2020.

The amount played in October 2021 was the most since March 2019, when 110 table games plus 53 poker tables saw $23.3m in action, with $17.5m won by players, and $5.7m in net proceeds.

For October 2021, Delaware Park led the way with $8.7m played on its 25 tables, with a net win of $2.2m. Dover Downs had 33 tables take $8.2m in action, with a net of $1.6m. Harrington and its 24 tables had slightly more than $5m played, with a win of $820,414.

As reported by Gaming America, Clairvest Group (CVG), in partnership with Clairvest Equity Partners VI, completion the acquisition of Delaware Park Casino and Racetrack earlier Thursday.

Delaware Park, located in Wilmington, first opened in 1937.
