WynnBET names new COO

Industry veteran Ian Williams will take on the position.

The iGaming and sports betting wing of Wynn Resorts, WynnBET, has today announced the appointment of Ian Williams as the operator’s new chief operating officer. Williams has 20 years of experience in the gaming industry and will work to oversee WynnBET’s trading, marketing, customer service, payments, and data science teams.

The new chief operating officer will report directly to Wynn Interactive CEO Craig Billings.

Williams has previously served as president of online gaming for Churchill Downs. He spent the last five years involved in the development of Churchill’s interactive division, seeing it become one of the most profitable iGaming platforms in the United States. Specifically, Williams was heavily involved in growing Churchill Downs' horse racing advance-deposit wagering businesses (Twinspires.com & Betamerica.com) profitably, delivering improved handle in every year he spent in the role. Furthermore, Williams oversaw Churchill gain sports betting access in nine states since 2018.

WynnBET’s new COO graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University. He also founded Thistle Gaming, a distributor of real-time sports data feeds and virtual racing in Europe and Asia.

Recently, WynnBET obtained market access in Louisiana. WynnBET is currently available in Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, New Jersey, Tennessee, and Virginia. Additionally, the company is in talks in seven other jurisdictions which could see the sportsbook become available to approximately 77% of the US population.

“WynnBET has market access agreements or opportunities which will become effective if legalized and regulatory requirements, licensee eligibility and suitability standards are met,” the company said in a statement. “Such market access and licensure are subject to legalization and required approvals by regulatory authorities in each jurisdiction.”
