The property’s poker room opens today.

Rivers Casino in Schenectady, New York, will today re-open its cardroom for the first time since March 2020. This news comes as the property, as well as New York State, continues to ease Covid-19 restrictions across the hospitality and gaming industries.

The poker room will now be available at 100% capacity for patrons between 10am and 2am, with the rest of the casino operating from 6am to 2am.

Speaking on the choice to reopen the casino's poker room, Rivers Casino general manager, Rick Richards, said: “The poker room is extremely popular and a big part of what makes for a fun and exciting gaming experience at the casino, and we couldn’t be happier to reopen it for our guests.”

River Casino & Resort, New York, closed in March 2020 and was fully shut until September the same year. Since September 2020, the property has been gradually reopening its different offerings.

Rivers Casinos outside of New York are also continuing to rebuild following the pandemic. The company’s property in Illinois, named the Rivers Casino Des Plaines, which is currently undergoing an expansion, celebrated placing the final structural beam during a topping off ceremony last week. The 78,000-square-foot, $87m project will expand the casino’s total gambling positions from 725 to 2,000.

"We are investing in the property to provide our guests more dining amenities, more entertainment, more gaming options, and what will be the Midwest's best poker room," said Corey Wise, senior vice president and general manager of Rivers Casino.

The Illinois location will hire 400 employees, including 250 table game dealers.
