Marina Bay Sands has resumed operations after a two-week pause from 22 July, which was designed to facilitate extensive deep-cleaning in the facilities to help stop the spread of Covid-19 after a cluster of 60 cases was linked to the casino.
According to the announcement, the casino and other venues will now adhere to the highest safety, hygiene and testing standards, often going beyond regulatory guidelines.
The operator has assured that there’s a 90% vaccination rate among the staff, and the employees dealing with guests directly are tested at a frequency ranging from every three days up to every 28 days.
Singapore has implemented heightened alert measures in the region, which should last until 18 August at least. Under the nationwide restrictions, Marina Bay Sands casino sets a limit of no more than two patrons per gaming table and only one patron allowed per Slot/ ETG Machine. Temperature screening will be conducted prior to entry into the venue.
While Singapore’s other casino complex, Resorts World Sentosa, didn’t have to close its doors, the property worked with visitor restrictions since late July, saying it “will remain operational at reduced guest capacity."
The capacity restrictions apply to both the casino and non-gaming attractions and will stay in place until the heightened alert in Singapore is eased. The casino has implemented a limit of two players per table, and bets from standing players won’t be accepted.
