Resorts World approved to build VGM facility at Hudson Valley mall

The Newburgh city Planning Board has approved plans for Genting Americas to build Resorts World Hudson Valley, a $32m video game machine (VGM) facility at Newburgh Mall.
Construction of RWHV will begin as early as this summer and could take six to 12 months, according to Times Union.
The VGM facility will occupy 90,000 square feet of what used to be a department store. RHWV will hold approximately 1,300 VGMs.
“We are extremely grateful for the ongoing support from the Town Council and the community as we move a step closer to building Resorts World Hudson Valley,” said Meghan Taylor, Genting Americas’ Vice President of Government Affairs and Public Relations.
RWHV is exepcted to create 200 constructions jobs as well as 215 new full-time jobs with an average full-time salary of $72,000/year.
In an executive summary presented to the New York State Gaming Commission, Resorts World said the property “will have the ability to enhance and accelerate the economic revitalization of the entire region.”
Senator James Skoufis (D-Hudson Valley) said in March, “When Resorts World first approached me nearly two years ago seeking support for a proposal to bring a gaming center to Orange County, I made my priorities clear to them: jobs, revitalizing a blight, and local community benefits. This project does all three.”
This will be Genting Americas’ third gaming property in the state of New York; the VGM facility is being built about 45 minutes from Resorts World Catskills, while Resorts World Casino New York City gives the company an urban presence.
