Las Vegas sees 2.6m visitors in April, most since pandemic
Las Vegas welcomed approximately 2.6m visitors in April as weekend hotel occupancy climbed above 83%.
The number of visitors last month was the most since February 2020, according to figures released by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. Visitation was up 15% from March, when 2.2m people visited the region.
Visitation was up 2,308% year-on-year, but Las Vegas casinos were closed for the entirety of April 2020. Compared to April 2019, the number of travelers was down 27%.
Las Vegas saw no notable convention travel last month. Conventions will pick up in June beginning with the World of Concrete.
Hotel occupancy for April was 65.6%, with weekend occupancy (85.6%) still well ahead of midweek (57.9%). Strip occupancy (66.3%) outpaced Downtown (55.1%) considerably.
Hotel occupancy was down 25.4% compared to April 2019.
“ADR (Average Daily Rate) surpassed $109, up 9.2% MoM but down 16.1% vs. Apr 2019. Improving Occupancy and ADR translated to RevPAR of $71.74, up +29.1% MoM and landing at roughly 60% of Apr 2019 levels,” said Kevin Bagger, VP of LVCVA’s research center.
The number of total en/deplaned air passengers was 2.9m, down 32% compared to two years ago.
Meanwhile, average daily auto traffic on all major highways was 136,234, which represents a 140% improvement y-o-y and a 8.3% increase from April 2019.
