The Nevada Gaming Control Board formally recommended approval for licensing of the soon-to-open Resorts World Las Vegas.

The Malaysian-based Genting Group backed property is scheduled to open June 24. The company will seek final licensing approval from the Nevada Gaming Commission on May 20, a vote that is expected to be a mere formality.

All three members of the NGCB voted in favor of license recommendation for Resorts World. Wednesday marked the first meeting of new NGCB board member Brittnie Watkins, who replaced Terry Johnson.

Resorts World President Scott Sibella led Genting’s presentation to the NGCB. He said the $4.3bn property covers 88 acres and 10m sq. feet.

Resorts World’s 117,000 sq. foot casino includes 1,400 slot machines, 117 total table games and 30 pokers. The casino floor will hold a race and sportsbook and eight non-private salons.

The property features over 300,000 sq. feet in meeting space, a 5,000-capacity theater, a nightclub, a day club, and a boutique retail among other amenities.

“Resorts World was designed and programmed to cater to all levels of customers,” Sibella said. “The design and architecture of the property is over the top and will be a must-see attraction. The non-gaming revenue areas will play an integral part in our success.”

Resorts World incorporates LED screens all over the property including a 100,000 sq. feet screen on the face of the build and another on the east side that is 19,000 sq. feet.

“This will be an advantage we’ll take to show videos, highlight marketing, advertising,” Sibella said. “You can stream on it. You can even show live TV events on this screen.”

Sibella said Resorts World will open at 11:00 p.m. on June 24.
