The Las Vegas Strip casino promised to still give out cash bonuses if 60% or 70% of the workforce get vaccinated. Bonuses will range from $50 to $500 per employee.
Cosmopolitan President and CEO William McBeath said in a statement, “In accordance with federal, state and municipal health authorities, we believe that expediting the vaccination process is the most effective and integral step towards ensuring our employees’ and our guests’ safety and the successful return of travel to our city.”
The push for employee vaccinations comes after the Nevada Gaming Control Board said it will increase capacity at casinos that make a “measurable” effort at vaccinating its workforce. Capacity increases will begin as early as May 1, hence the Cosmopolitan’s target deadline for vaccinating employees.
Nevada operators are aggressively asking their employees to get vaccinated as capacity remains at 50% through the end of April.
Last week Wynn CEO Matt Maddox encouraged all Las Vegas employees to get vaccinated or else show proof of a weekly negative Covid-19 test.
“Vaccination rates are increasing throughout the country, and requiring our employees to either be vaccinated or tested on a weekly basis will make Wynn one of the safest vacation destinations in the U.S,” Maddox said in a company-wide memo.
