Encore Las Vegas returning to full-week operations in April
Wynn Resorts has announced Encore Las Vegas will resume full-week operations beginning April 8, ending a six-month midweek closure schedule.
Encore’s hotel and casino floor will be open all week, while other amenities including dining and the Spa at Encore will continue operating under a revised schedule.
In mid-October Wynn cut Encore’s days of operation to Thursday through Monday citing depressed consumer demand.
Wynn was one of several operators lto cut back days of operation at Las Vegas properties last fall as Covid-19 cases soared.
The company’s decision to resume full-week operations at Encore signals Wynn’s confidence in Las Vegas tourism heading into the spring and summer months.
Nevada officials began to allow casinos to operate at 50% capacity beginning last Monday, up from 35%. In the first weekend under this increased capacity, the Las Vegas Strip saw its highest traffic since casinos shut down one year ago.
Large crowds streamed through the Strip and crowded casinos starting Thursday night and lasting well into Sunday. Las Vegas was gifted with warm weather and the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament, which annually attracts thousands of visitors to the region.
The rise in US Covid-19 vaccinations has sparked consumer’s travel confidence. As of Monday, approximately 25% of Americans had received at least one vaccination and over 13% had been fully vaccinated.
During Wynn’s fourth quarter 2020 conference call on February 4, 2021, CEO Matt Maddox said he expected demand for Las Vegas to pick up by this summer.
“As we see the restrictions, hopefully continue to lift as vaccines rollout, we’re very hopeful that by this summer we’re really starting to see a lot more people traveling to Las Vegas,” Maddox said.
