The city of Richmond, Virginia announced six companies have sent proposals to develop a casino in the Commonwealth’s capital.

The six respondents each included a proposed site. They include Bally’s Corporation at Chippenham Parkway & Powhite Parkway (Parkway Crossing); Golden Nugget at Chippingham Parkway & Powhite Parkway (Parkway Crossing); ONE Resort & Casino at Walmsley Boulevard & I-95 (Phillip Morris Operations Center); Pamunkey Indian Tribe & Reservation at 5000 & 5050 Commerce Road; The Cordish Companies at 1301 North Arthur Ashe Boulevard; and Wind Creek Hospitality at 1401 Commerce Road.

Richmond mayor Levar Stoney said, “Receiving six proposals demonstrates that the city remains an attractive place for investment. We are committed to a complete and competitive evaluation and selection process so that Richmonders will have the best project possible to consider when voting on November 2nd.”

Each proposed plan is publicly available through the city of Richmond’s website. Proposals will be valuated based on the total amount of new annual revenues operators would bring to the city, the location of the casino resort, capital investment, job creation and several other factors.

The city will host the first virtual meeting on the issue on March 9. Residents will be able to ask questions online about each proposal.

An evaluation panel will report on hearings in early April, then share the recommended location, operator, and terms of the deal in May or June all before voters can approve or deny a referendum this November.
