Ohio generates $77.9m in casino revenue for January 2025

The Ohio Casino Control Commission reported the state’s financial results for both casinos and sports betting during January 2025, as casino revenue increased by 3.5% year-over-year for a total of $77.9m while sports betting handle grew by 24.7% to $1.01bn during the month.
Table game revenue was reported to be just under $22.7m, representing an increase of 2.1% from the prior year period while slot revenue accounted for the remaining $55.2m, growing by 4.1% year-over-year. Hollywood Casino Columbus generated the most revenue of any property during January 2025, increasing by 12.4% from the prior year period for a total revenue of nearly $22.2m.
The Ohio Casino Control Commission reports finances from four properties, including Hollywood Casino Columbus, Jack Cleveland Casino, Hard Rock Cincinnati and Hollywood Toledo. The remaining three properties all generated revenues similar to that of Hollywood Columbus, including $19.6m from Jack Cleveland, $18.4m from Hollywood Toledo and nearly $17.7m accumulated by Hard Rock Cincinnati.
Jack Cleveland Casino also saw the closest balance of revenue between table games and slot machines, as table games generated $8m of the property’s revenue, while slot machines accounted for the remaining $11.6m. Each of the remaining three casinos all had a revenue difference of at least $5.3m between the two offerings.
For sports betting, the reported $1.01bn handle also represents the first time Ohio has surpassed the $1bn mark since November 2024, as results from the final month of the year brought the handle down to $963.2m.

FanDuel managed to generate the most revenue of any operator currently active in the Buckeye State, having reported a total revenue of just under $38.9m, but decreasing by more than $10m from the figure reported during January 2024. DraftKings generated $22m of revenue between online and retail betting, decreasing by 35.3% year-over-year despite reporting the second-highest revenue of any operator in Ohio.
Fanatics, bet365, BetMGM and ESPN Bet all battled for third, with bet365 claiming the spot with a revenue of $6.3m during January 2025, while Fanatics, BetMGM and ESPN Bet reported revenues of $3.5m, $4.1m and $2.3m, respectively.
Ohio’s total sports betting revenue for January 2025 was reported to be $80.2m, representing a decrease of 29.4% and having entirely been generated by online sports betting after retail wagering reported a revenue loss of $272.1k. The January 2025 handle still represents an increase of 24.7% year-over-year, but operators paid out over $200m more in winnings than what was reported during January 2024.
