Iowa sports wagering handle reaches $138.1m for July

The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission has published its sports wagering figures for the month of July. The state reported a total handle of nearly $138.1m for the month.
That total fell by close to $9m month-over-month.
During the month of July, sportsbooks statewide reported $13.9m in adjusted gross revenue (AGR).
Last month, 19 operators took online bets from Iowa players, accounting for a total internet sports betting handle of close to $130.6m.
When it came to winnings for players, Iowa residents took home nearly $124.3m in earnings from their bets. Almost $117.7m of those wins came from bets that were placed online.
During July, sports wagering in Iowa contributed close to $0.9m in taxes.
In other state news, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission held a recent meeting to discuss a casino proposal.
The pending project, proposed by the Linn County Gaming Association and its partner Peninsula Pacific Entertainment, would bring a new casino to the Cedar Rapids area.
The duo has worked on the application for the past two years and will be ready to submit the full proposal by the end of this month, according to a representative of the development group and Linn County Gaming Association.
