Google opts to accept and run DFS ads in 17 US states

The company will soon add the change to its Gambling and Games policy page.
Google recently announced an update to its current Gambling and Games policy. The company said that it will begin accepting and running daily fantasy sports (DFS) ads in select US states.
The company elaborated on the policy changes in an online statement. It said, “We will begin to accept and run ads for daily fantasy sports operators in Alaska, California, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
“If advertisers are targeting their ads in a state that does not require a license, the advertisers must be licensed in at least one other US state that does require a license to operate daily fantasy sports services.”
Google went on to note that DFS advertisers must apply for certification.
Though the company has posted the changes to its policy, it will not officially go into effect until July 15.
Google said it will update the changes on its policy page following the official start date.
In other DFS news, North American daily fantasy sports operator PrizePicks has teamed up with State Farm Arena to “expand the presence of PrizePick’s commitment to its hometown.”
State Farm Arena hosts dozens of events every year that feature prominent artists, athletes and comedians from around the world.
Under the terms of the agreement, PrizePicks will have access to “highly visible in-arena signage” throughout State Farm Arena that will be on display for all concerts, comedy shows, hip-hop shows and sporting events.
In addition to the in-arena signage, PrizePicks will have brand display rights in Atlanta’s Sports and Entertainment District, which is near State Farm Arena, Mercedes-Benz Stadium and the Georgia World Congress Center.
