Washington’s Lottery has expanded its partnership with Scientific Games, with the game producer becoming the lottery’s primary scratch game provider for a new six-year contract period.
The contract may be renewed for an additional four years.
Scientific Games has been Washington’s Lottery’s primary scratch game partner since the lottery's inception over 40 years ago. In the past decade, Scientific Games has provided a range of instant entertainment products to the lottery and has collaborated with its instant product management teams.
Some popular scratch games for Washington’s Lottery players include $2, $5, $10 and $20 scratch games from the Loteria brand, which to date has generated more than $460.4m in revenue for the lottery.
Since 2014, gross gaming revenue (GGR) has grown 60%, with the additional revenue being put towards a range of causes in the state, including early childhood education, economic development, financial aid for college students and more.
On the expanded partnership, Washington's Lottery Instant Product Manager Gaylene Gray said, "Our work with Scientific Games has made a difference. We've been able to offer our players entertaining scratch game experiences while responsibly driving more funding for the good cause programs that enrich our communities.
“We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with Scientific Games as into the next phase of innovation and growth for our products."
Scientific Games President of Americas and Global Instant Products John Schulz added, "It is a pleasure to continue our collaboration with Washington's Lottery on its very successful product portfolio as primary instant game provider. The Lottery's team has always embraced innovation and is willing to try new ideas that entertain players and drive more funding for vital programs in the state.”
Scientific Games have a long history with several other state lotteries. In May, Scientific Games expanded on its over 50-year partnership with the New York Lottery, and in the same month also announced an instant game management partnership with the Kansas Lottery, a lottery it has provided lottery technology systems to since 2018.
