AGCO and MGA continue collaboration via new Memorandum of Understanding

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) have agreed upon a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which will allow both regulators to continue their collaboration and ‘build on their continued relationship.’

Both associations have noted the need to continue ‘aligning their common objectives and values’ due to the ongoing evolution of the gambling industry on an international level.

These common values include protecting public interest, overseeing the gaming sector, consumer protection and safeguarding vulnerable people from gambling harm.

MGA laid out the terms of the new agreement in a statement, ‘The new MoU aims to further strengthen the long-standing collaboration between the two regulatory bodies, as it facilitates the exchange of crucial regulatory information and best practices, and mutual operational assistance concerning gaming operators.

“It also aims to cultivate a safer and more secure gaming environment across both jurisdictions, as it enables the MGA and the AGCO to perform their functions more effectively.”

MGA CEO Charles Mizzi further discussed its ongoing relationship with AGCO and took a moment to reflect on the duo’s success in the past. He commented, “Our ongoing collaboration with AGCO has yielded tangible results in the past and through this MoU we are committed to further bolstering our inter-jurisdictional relationship.

“Our focus remains on fostering the exchange of information, with the overarching goal of improving our regulatory practices and addressing mutual challenges effectively.”

In other regulatory news, AGCO recently granted slot software provider Swintt market access to the Canadian province of Ontario. This marks the company’s debut in the North American market.

With this approval, players in Ontario will now have access to Swintt games that include Aloha Spirit XtraLock, as well as to upcoming game releases from Elysium Studios – Driven by Swintt.
