The National Football League (NFL) has lifted suspensions for five of its players. All five players were suspended for “violating the league’s gambling policy” last year.
Three were former members of the Detroit Lions, including wide receiver Quintez Cephus, defensive lineman Demetrius Taylor and safe C.J. Moore. Commanders edge Shaka Toney and ex-Colts linebacker Rashod Berry have also been reinstated.
However, four out of five players currently are not part of a team’s official roster. Toney is the only player who is listed on a team’s 90-player lineup, according to the NFL Network report.
The current NFL policy does not allow its players to engage “in any form of gambling in any club or league facility or venue, including the practice facility.”
All five players were reprimanded last year for allegations of gambling activity that violated the league’s policy. Penalties ranged from indefinite suspension to six games.
The NFL recently teamed up with Genius Sports Limited to release BetVision, which is an immersive sports wagering platform that offers fans statistics, insights, integrated bet slips and real-time augmentations within an interactive player. The launch offered fans around the US access to live NFL games.
Football fans can place bets within the live video player on the sportsbook app, as well as access NFL content on mobile and tablet devices.
As part of the initial launch, Caesars Sportsbook and Fanatics Sportsbook were the first to offer BetVision to sports betting fans. Both sportsbooks feature live streams of local, regional and national NFL games during the week.
