Police say the robbery happened just after 9 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Chick-fil-A on Ashville Road in Leeds, Alabama. Investigators allege the woman pulled into the drive-thru, sprayed mace at an employee, and demanded the restaurant’s money bag.
The employee handed over the cash. Police say the suspect then sped out of the parking lot and drove recklessly as she left the area.

Using surveillance video and other investigative tools, Leeds police say they were able to identify the suspect and track her movements after the robbery. According to police, that trail led officers to Wind Creek Casino in Wetumpka.
Leeds Police Chief Paul Irwin said investigators believe the suspect went directly to the casino and began gambling with the stolen money. Authorities have not said how much cash was taken from the restaurant.

When officers approached the suspect at the casino, police say she resisted arrest, got back into her vehicle, and fled the scene. Multiple agencies became involved as officers pursued her.
The chase ended when police say the suspect ran off the road and crashed into a group of trees. She was taken into custody shortly after the crash.
Who Is the Alabama Chick-fil-A Robbery Suspect
The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Kaudija Shondrelle Haynes. She is described in reports as being from Leeds or the Birmingham area.
No injuries were reported at the Chick-fil-A during the robbery, according to police.
Charges Filed After Alabama Chick-fil-A Robbery and Casino Incident
Haynes is currently being held in the Elmore County Jail. Jail records and police statements list several charges tied to the casino arrest, including attempting to elude law enforcement, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police say additional charges connected to the Chick-fil-A robbery are pending. Once she is released from Elmore County custody, she is expected to be transferred to St. Clair County. There, she will face charges of first-degree robbery, reckless endangerment, and fourth-degree theft of property.
Bond has been reported at $116,000.
Police Comments on Gambling Addiction After Alabama Chick-fil-A Robbery
Leeds police have suggested that addiction may have been a factor in the alleged crime. The department has not released details about any prior criminal history.
Following the incident, the Leeds Police Department said changes are being made so employees at that Chick-fil-A location will no longer be required to carry bags of cash during operations.
