History and Renovations

The Pechanga Development Corporation, Tribal Council and Gaming Commission broke ground in early 2001 for the Pechanga Casino project, which was quoted at $262m at the time.

The casino would officially open to the public on June 24, 2002. The casino was specifically designed to include aspects of the Luiseño culture in its architecture.

The original gaming floor spanned over 85,000 sq ft (7,900 m2), with an additional 1,200-seat bingo hall.

As for non-gaming facilities, the original build held a 200-seat cabaret lounge, the Eagle’s Nest lounge, seven restaurants, a 38,800 sq ft (3,600 m2) convention center and a 14-story hotel with 522 rooms and suites.

The first renovation was opened in November 2004, which doubled the amount of gaming floor space. Not only that, but this introduced a high-limit gaming area, a poker room with 54 tables and several restaurants.

The next major renovation was started in 2015 and was officially completed in 2018. This $300m project saw the hotel rooms doubled in number to 1,090 total and extended the spa facility by 25,000 sq ft. The highlight of the renovation though was The Cove, a 4.5 acre tropical-themed complex which had three pools, two water slides, swim-up bars, restaurants and almost 30 cabanas. Finally, there was also a 40,000 sq ft events center unveiled.
