Rio Hotel & Casino to hold basketball viewing party

Fans can attend the event for free.

Las Vegas’ Rio Hotel & Casino will host a college basketball viewing party following the March Madness tournament. Sports fans can attend the viewing party on March 21 and March 22 at the WOW Theater inside the resort.

Rio Hotel & Casino will offer guests several food and beverage purchasing options and plush seating.

The theater will feature an oversized projector screen that will play multiple games at once.

There is no cost for admission and no RSPV is needed. Those interested in reserving VIP tables or couches can book those starting at $400. VIP tables, booths and couches are currently available.

This year’s March Madness tournament, featuring the top 12 teams in the country, will run from March 12 to March 16 at Kansas City’s T-Mobile Center.

Houston furniture store owner Jim McIngvale, also known as Mattress Mack, recently wagered $1m on the Houston Cougars to win the March Madness men’s NCAA title this year. His hometown team is currently ranked number one by polls in the Associated Press and in USA Today.

Mattress Mack opted out of betting on this year’s Super Bowl matchup. However, he drove across the state border to Louisiana to place his bet.

Dreamscape acquired Rio at the end of 2019 from Caesars Entertainment for $516.3m. As part of the deal, Dreamscape leased its operations back to Caesars for a four-year term while the company prepared its renovation plans.

Rio’s new owners have planned a $350m and 18-month renovation project. Renovation on the 33-year-old property involves a property-wide overhaul, including both casino and restaurant operations, according to Dreamscape CEO Eric Birnbaum.
