Ohio: FanDuel gives $1m to UNCF to aid under-represented college students
This is the third company donation in three years.
FanDuel recently donated $1m to the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), an organization committed to “building a robust and nationally recognized pipeline of under-represented students.”
The company’s funds will go to financially support students at 10 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) throughout Ohio.
Students will receive direct aid for college needs, which include housing, food security, tuition, technology and other education-related expenses. In addition to the donation, FanDuel has partnered with UNCF to offer select students to participate in its internship program at one of FanDuel’s US offices.
FanDuel has also given similar donations to the UNCF to aid students in Virginia and Maryland. This is the company’s third UNCF donation in the past three years.
FanDuel President Christian Genetski noted that improving students’ lives continues to be an important focus for the company.
He commented further by saying, “We’re always looking for ways to make a positive impact in the communities in which we operate our sportsbook.
“As we reflect on our first year of operation in Ohio, we’re proud to continue our partnership with UNCF to support the HBCU community in the state and look forward to supporting hard-working students at institutions across Ohio.”
UNCF Executive VP and Chief Fundraising Officer Maurice Jenkins, Jr. commended FanDuel for its ongoing commitment to investing in the community.
He said, “We truly appreciate the ongoing support from FanDuel, as financial and academic supports like this help make a real difference for HBCUs and their students.
“We look forward to continuing our partnership; students benefit so much from internship opportunities.”
