AGA launches industry training to combat human trafficking
The American Gaming Association (AGA) partners with RG24seven Virtual Training to launch free employee training program.
The AGA has established online training to educate gaming industry employees on how to combat human trafficking.
The announcement comes on National Human Trafficking Awareness Day and online training is available free of charge to all gaming companies immediately.
The training is based on the AGA’s official guide to preventing and combating human trafficking, available online, as well as expertise from AGA’s Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force, nonprofits and law enforcement.
The free course uses videos and quizzes to educate employees, who will receive a certificate upon successful completion.
The AGA also plans to participate in Human Trafficking Prevention Month with the release of an online human trafficking prevention toolkit as well as participating in anti-trafficking events throughout the month.
Events are set to be hosted by the University of Maryland’s SAFE Center, the US Department of Homeland Security’s Center for Countering Human Trafficking and a congressional briefing hosted by the US Chamber of Commerce.
Speaking of the industry training AGA VP of Government Relations Alex Costello said: “Combating human trafficking is integral to our industry’s commitment to the communities in which we operate. The AGA is proud to lead the industry’s fight against this abhorrent crime and this free training empowers employees at all levels to spot and prevent cases of human trafficking.”
RG24seven Virtual Training CEO Wendy Anderson also commented: “Responsibility in gaming means more than promoting safer gambling – it means a commitment to all forms of customer and community safety. We’re honored to work with the AGA and advance the gaming industry’s efforts with the launch of today’s training.”
This follows news of Hard Rock International and Seminole Gaming’s commitment to expand programs to combat human trafficking in 2024, including additional training for its team members and a youth education program.
Last year, Hard Rock International and the Seminole Tribe of Florida were granted a Freedom Award from the Protect All Children from Trafficking organization to honor their commitment to the cause.
