Boyd Gaming donates more than $200,000 to non-profits
Boyd Gaming announces total donation amount in 2023 for ‘Wreaths and Trees of Hope’ initiative.
Operator Boyd Gaming has reported a total donation amount of more than $200,000 to nearly 190 non-profit organizations nationwide.
These donations were a part of its ‘Wreaths and Trees of Hope’ competition, with participants decorating wreaths or trees in the spirit of their organization’s mission.
The cash prizes were determined by votes from Boyd Gaming customers over the holiday season, with the range of organizations supported reaching 11 states nationwide.
Winners include Pet Pack Rescue Initiative in Illinois, Special Olympics of Iowa, Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana and Action for Autism in Missouri.
The total sum donated was the largest in the 16-year history of the contest.
The ‘Wreaths and Trees of Hope’ competition debuted at Delta Downs Racetrack Casino & Hotel in 2007, with the annual competition now taking place in 26 Boyd Gaming properties across the US.
Participating states include Nevada, California, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
The total amount donated since the project’s conception is nearly $1.5m.
This announcement follows news of other holiday season donations with casinos such as Sycuan Casino Resort, MGM Resorts and Jamul Casino reporting donations of up to $360,000 to local and national non-profit organizations.
In other news related to Boyd Gaming, the company announced four senior executive promotions last month, including an employee who has been with the company since 1983.
In October last year, Boyd Gaming announced a Q3 revenue increase of 3% to $903.2m.
