Legalized Sports betting introduced in Lincoln for the first time
Wagering on sports will take place in the WarHorse Casino for the time being.
Last week, it was reported that sports betting was set for approval at the Warhorse Casino in Lincoln, so long as certain conditions were met, and yesterday, for the first time in the city, legal sports betting was opened to the public.
For the time being, sports betting will take place only at a temporary facility at the Warhorse Casino, where horseracing and sports betting will be integrated within the same area of the casino.
The CEO of the Nebraska Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association, Lynne McNally, said, “We’ve got 10 kiosks that are self-serve, so you should be able to get in and out pretty efficiently.
“If you don’t want to use the self-serve machines, we’ve got a couple of tellers ready and happy to help.”
The President and CEO of Ho-Chuck Inc, Lance Morgan, added, “You can bet on cricket, tennis, rugby, international soccer; we’ll have it here.
“And if we don’t, you can access it through our partner, because our partner is from England. If there’s a demand for something, we have to get it authorized by the state, but I don’t think that will be a problem.”
However, betting remotely within the region is still not allowed, and anyone who wants to place a wager has to do so at the Warhorse Casino.
The Warhorse is owned by Winnebago Tribe, with officials saying the casino and its sports betting will help to build housing and provide jobs to members of the Tribe.
Back in May, Warhorse Gaming secured a partnership with Kambi, in order to launch the first sportsbook in Nebraska.
