Elys launches third sportsbook in Washington D.C.
The expansion follows consumers desires for small business sportsbooks.
Sports betting and iGaming company Elys Game Technology has announced its expansion into Washington D.C, where its third sportsbook will be located.
The third sportsbook location will be at Grand Central Sportsbook on H Street, located at 625D H Street NE in Washington, D.C. The sportsbook is expected to open during Q4 2023.
However, the commencement of sports wagering at Grand Central Sportsbook is subject to final approval by the D.C. Office of Lottery and Gaming (DCOLG).
Since the debut of the small business sportsbook at the Grand Central Restaurant and Sportsbook in October 2021, Elys has been seeking expansion opportunities.
Elys stated its reasoning for expansion, commenting, ‘As the sports betting landscape evolves, and more states embrace the small business sportsbook concept, Elys is positioned to capitalize on the burgeoning market.’
The sportsbook will be powered by subsidiary Elys Gameboard Technologies, LLC, which will supply the bookmaking services and sports betting technology.
Recently, Elys opened a sportsbook at Santa Claran Casino Resort in New Mexico back in July. Meanwhile, in February, Elys agreed on a deal to acquire software and IT company Engage IT Services, with the intention of integrating it within the core business.
Michele Ciavarella, Executive Chairman of Elys Game Technology said, “The small business model presents a compelling opportunity as it offers customers convenient access to betting on their favorite sports while enjoying a night out at their local social establishment.
“We are buoyed by industry trends in the United States and believe that as more states adopt this model, we can rapidly expand our customer base with minimal upfront costs.”
