City of Buenos Aires regulator partners with IBIA

The two signed an alliance to further develop sports betting integrity within the city market.

The City of Buenos Aires’ public sports betting regulator, The Lotería de la Ciudad, has signed a memorandum of understanding on sports betting integrity, along with the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA).

The alliance will aid in developing a safe and transparent regulated sports betting market within the City of Buenos Aires, as well as “discourage all types of unfair or fraudulent practices and the manipulation of sports competitions.”

The IBIA is a global integrity network that has more than 40 members and is made up of more than 100 betting brands. The association offers services that combat corruption through a collaboration of worldwide operators.

The agreement paves the way for establishing collaboration guidelines regarding exchanging integrity of sports betting information and technical knowledge.

IBIA CEO Khalid Ali said that the organization is eager to work with the lottery and further explained the duo’s mutual goals.

He commented, “IBIA is delighted to have reached an agreement with the Lotería de la Ciudad to work collaboratively to protect sports, consumers, and the regulated betting market from match-fixing.

“The association and its members will analyze the betting on their global markets, which cover over $137bn in sports betting revenue per annum, and work closely with the Lotería de la Ciudad to identify and investigate any suspicious betting activity.”  

The IBIA recently welcomed Metric Gaming, a sports betting technology provider, to its list of official members.

The London-based company currently holds vendor and supplier licenses in several US states that include New Jersey, Colorado, Michigan, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
