Arizona allocates event wagering license to bet365

Applications should have been completed within a two-week period in August to be considered for a license.
The Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) has announced that bet365 will be one of the operators to be allocated an event wagering operator license. The British-based bet365 will be the designee for the Ak-Chin Indian Community.
The Grand Canyon State legalized event wagering in 2021 and created the ADG to be the primary regulator for event wagering and fantasy sports contests.
The legislation allowed for a maximum of 20 event wagering operator licenses in the state, with 10 reserved for Arizona Tribes and 10 reserved for Arizona sports franchises.
On June 30 2023, the ADG announced it would begin accepting applications for event wagering licenses; which included one license reserved for Arizona Tribes and two licenses for Arizona sports franchises.
The application window to apply for event wagering licenses opened on August 1 2023 at midnight and closed on August 15 2023 at 5:00pm (AZ time); applications must have been completed within this timeframe to be considered for a license.
If there are more qualified applicants than available licenses, the ADG will review each application and make a determination according to the state’s event wagering rules.
Recently, bet365 partnered with Pragmatic Play to enter the Ontario market, followed by its entry into its fifth US state, Iowa and most recently the operator entered its sixth US market in Kentucky by entering a multi-year partnership with Sandy’s Gaming and Racing.
