CDI to open six retail sportsbook locations next month

CDI will open six new retail sportsbooks across Kentucky next month after gaining temporary licensing by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission (KHRC). The new retail sites are scheduled to open September 7.

CDI’s latest retail sportsbook locations will open at Churchill Downs Racetrack, Derby City Gaming & Hotel, Turfway Park Racing & Gaming, Newport Racing & Gaming, Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel in and Ellis Park Racing & Gaming.

Company CEO Bill Carstanjen said the group is eager to offer Kentucky residents access to on-site sports betting and thanked the commission and community leaders for their support.

He commented, “CDI is excited to bring our experience operating retail sports wagering experiences to Kentucky with many thanks to the Kentucky General Assembly, Governor Beshear, the KHRC and the Kentucky Public Protection Cabinet for their efforts in making this a reality.

“Sports betting as a tourism and economic development opportunity will further strengthen the state’s signature equine industry by bringing new guests into our live and historical racing venues.”

The CDI retail sportsbooks will offer players access to sports betting kiosks at their existing simulcast and bar areas. The company said that several locations will feature televisions and large format video screens so that fans can watch pro sports and live racing.

In addition to visual enhancements, players can take advantage of “Bet & Jet,” which allows for short-term parking in designated spaces for up to 15 minutes. This feature gives bettors quick and easy access to place wagers without staying to watch events.
