Nebraska: Grand Island Casino Resort aims to add sportsbook and table games

The state regulator will meet August 18 to vote on project approval.

The Grand Island Casino Resort has unveiled plans to provide table games to its players, according to a local report in The North Platte Telegraph. The Nebraska casino resort said it also plans to open a sportsbook pending approval from the state regulator.

The Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission is scheduled to meet next Friday to consider the casino’s request for the modifications. Should the Commission vote yes to the proposed changes, the casino can open its expanded gaming floor to the public the same day.

The Grand Island Casino Resort said it plans to add an ultimate Texas hold-em game, along with one craps game, one roulette game and five blackjack tables.

General Manager Vince Fiala told local news that its Texas hold-em version allows players to compete against the dealer.

He commented, “It’s still a blackjack game. It’s not like a regular poker game where you play against all the other players. You’re playing against the dealer.”

In addition to the new tables, the casino resort will add another 46 slot machines to its gaming floor, bringing its slot machine total to 336. The resort will add restrooms as well that will be accessible from the casino floor.

Fiala went on to discuss further expansion to the casino’s dining area. Guests will have access to an expanded menu that includes burgers, chicken strips, fries and omelets, in addition to its current offering of sandwiches, pizza, hot dogs and nachos.

Fiala said, “We’ll have roughly 50 seats in there. We’ll have a little stage for entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights.”
