Twitch updates policy, adds two domains to its list of prohibited gambling sites

Twitch has updated its lists of restricted gambling sites and provided users with an update to last year’s policy. Blaze and Gamdom were added to the list in an effort to facility safe gaming for players.

Prior to the change, Twitch had restricted four other websites. Twitch said its aim to keep users safe is a goal that has not changed since last year.

The company said in a statement, “We’re adding two additional gambling sites – Blaze and Gamdom – to our list of prohibited sites and sharing learnings from last year’s policy change.

“Our goal now, as it was last fall, is to protect our community, address predatory behavior, and make Twitch safer.”

Twitch released its gambling policy last fall, which went into effect in October. The current policy restricts users from sharing referral codes or links to websites that have slots, roulette or dice games. The Amazon-owned company said that it seeks to address possible scams and “other harms stemming from questionable gambling sites.”

However, sites focused on fantasy sports, poker and sports betting or not included in the list of prohibited pages.

Twitch was first introduced in June 2011 as a spin-off of Justin.tv and since has developed to feature video game live streaming, as well as esports competition broadcasts, music and other live content. Viewers can choose to view content either in real time or on-demand. Games on the site are listed according to specific user viewing preferences.

Since its initial launch, Twitch has grown to serve millions of users and currently has more than 27,000 partner channels.
