Sightline praises New Jersey’s five-year extension of online gaming

New Jersey has passed a bill extending iGaming for five more years.

And payments supplier Sightline has issued the following statement on behalf of its Co-CEO, Omer Sattar, in response to New Jersey authorizing internet gambling for an additional five years, “Sightline was proud to be the first digital payments provider to enter New Jersey’s online gambling market in 2013.

“Since then, iGaming and mobile sports betting have flourished in the Garden State and played an instrumental role in providing hundreds of millions in tax revenue for the state, as well as thousands of jobs. 

“Sightline commends lawmakers for their commitment to ensuring that New Jersey remains the leader in the digital gaming space by extending the authorization for online gaming in the state through 2028.” 

Earlier this month, Senator Vince Polastina proposed a 10-year extension on internet gambling in New Jersey, but as of a recent amendment to the bill, the extension was only set to last for two years.

However, a decision has been made to meet in the middle at five years and now New Jersey can continue its online gaming offerings up until 2028.

New Jersey’s financial report for Q1 2023 reflected the growth of iGaming in the Garden State with a total state win of $161.4m, showing a growth of 18.7%. 

Recently in New Jersey, DWG has expanded its partnership with Caesars Digital, PlayStar and The Unit partnered for a launch, Bragg Gaming partnered with WynnBet to launch new RGS content; and BetMakers and Monmouth Bets launched fixed-odds mobile betting in the state.
