PrizePicks receives temporary license to operate in Indiana
The daily fantasy sports company offers a skills-based platform with offerings in basketball, perfect for fans in the Hoosier state.
PrizePicks has been granted a temporary license to operate its daily fantasy sports business in Indiana.
PrizePicks Chief Legal Officer & Head of Public Policy Jason Barclay said, “Adding Indiana as a licensed state to our portfolio is an important benchmark for our organization as we continue to grow our national footprint.
“We are extremely grateful to the Indiana Gaming Commission for their collaboration and we hope that this license can be a model for other states with competitive gaming markets.”
PrizePicks markets itself as the largest fantasy sports operator in North America. Gaining entry to Indiana – a basketball-obsessed state, home to the National Basketball Association’s Indiana Pacers and the Women’s National Basketball Association’s Indiana Fever – was critical to its operations, as PrizePicks offers a skills-based fantasy platform with basketball offerings.
PrizePicks’ expansion to the Hoosier State comes after the company announced partnerships with Major League Baseball’s Atlanta Braves, Nascar, rapper Meek Mill and the BIG3 basketball league owned by rapper Ice Cube.
Indiana State Senator Jon Ford (R-Terre Haute), who is President of the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States, said “As an author of the fantasy sports legislation in Indiana, I’m happy to see Indiana continue to be a leader in creating a successful regulatory environment for fostering innovation in the fantasy sports space.”
